Pop Warner was established in Wilmington, NC on May 7, 1981 under the name New Hanover Pop Warner Football Conference.  Ten years later the name was changed to Coastal Pop Warner as it remains today.  We operate under the guidance of our National office, Pop Warner Little Scholars and uphold their mission, believing Athletics and Academics go hand in hand. Our goal is to teach children from 5-18 the fundamentals of Football and Cheerleading while stressing the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship.  While we began in New Hanover County, the current program also serves children in Pender, Brunswick and Robeson Counties in North Carolina and Horry County in South Carolina.
